Teaching of the Faith
In Pope Benedict's recent address to Catholic educators in the United States (April 17, 2008, Catholic University of America), he makes a plea to those present "to contribute to the good of society through the Church's primary mission of evangelization". He asks for the reinstatement of God's Truth and the "fostering of a personal intimacy with Jesus Christ" as the foundation on which to "engage the intellect of the young". The Holy Father calls this "intellectual charity", the responsibility of the educator to "lead the young to truth as an act of love" and to "uphold the essential unity of knowledge against the fragmentation which ensues when reason is detached from the pursuit of truth".
Why St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School Is Formed
The concept for St. Thomas Aquinas was formed by a group of Catholic families who value the
quality of a college preparatory education and desire an equally challenging and fulfilling
faith education for their children.
Like all families, they want their children to be part of a school where curiosity, talent and
discipline are equally valued and nurtured and where every child is recognized as an individual,
where tolerance and acceptance is promoted regardless of differences in ethnic, cultural or other
