Archbishop appoints new President & CEO for St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School
Hagåtña, Guam – Guam’s newest Catholic high school, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School in Ordot, has a newly appointed President & CEO effective today.
In a letter today, Archbishop Anthony Sablan Apuron appointed Ms. Pilar Perez Williams to succeed the school’s founding President & CEO, Monsignor James L. G. Benavente. Msgr. Benavente’s appointment was critical in the school’s inception, but at the same time temporary, so that he may return to his regular responsibilities in the Archdiocese of Agaña.
“After much consultation with Msgr. Benavente, it is once again my distinct pleasure to announce the appointment of Ms. Pilar Perez Williams as the new President and CEO of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School effective today,†said Archbishop Apuron.
Msgr. Benavente has been an active member of the Advisory Board and has worked closely with the administration in leading the school into its early successes as a Catholic institution committed to educational excellence for high school students. Together, the entire school community pursued full accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges as well as other educational accolades from other prestigious organizations. Msgr. Benavente’s leadership and commitment to the school’s formation will leave a lasting imprint in the history of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School.
Archbishop Apuron continued, “I would like to personally thank Ms. Williams for her acceptance of this new appointment. I look forward to future successes and more fruitful years as she leads St. Thomas Aquinas to greater heights in this new capacity. I also take this opportunity to personally thank Msgr. Benavente for his leadership and work as the founding President and CEO of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic High School.†Archbishop goes on to say, “Dr. Dr. Hauhouot Diambra-Odi will continue to serve as the Principal of St. Thomas Aquinas. I also acknowledge his continued leadership and work at the school.â€
